Everybody from aviators knows "leading edge' as "the foremost edge of an airfoil"(передняя кромка) but this word combination has another meaning.
"the forefront or vanguard, especially of technological development" ( передавая технология)
E.g.
Airbus uses only leading edge technologies.
Leading edge system INDRA has been implemented in most regional centres of Ukraine.
🔥 The new paint palette Trump demanded for Air Force One could overheat the planes because it's TOO DARK.
The new colour scheme requires the underside of the plane and its engines to be DARK BLUE, which retains more heat than a lighter colour.
To accommodate that, modifications may have to be made to cool some of the plane's components.
The White House has yet to make a decision on whether to keep the Trump paint scheme for the converted jets, or revert to the earlier colours.
🖌 Livery ['lɪv(ə)rɪ] ливрея - a special design and colour scheme used on the vehicles, aircraft, or products of a particular company.
✏️ to go the extra mile - выложиться на все сто; прилагать дополнительные усилия;

✏️ (trade) union - профсоюз;
✏️ roster ['rɔstə] - расписание нарядов, дежурств;
✏️ to step in - вмешиваться.
🛫 February 26th, 2022, the Icelandair Boeing 737-9 MAX flight from Keflavik (Iceland) to Seattle (USA) had a Tail Strike on takeoff from RWY 19. The crew continued the 7.5h flight to Seatle at FL360. The aircraft was grounded for 20+ hours thereafter.
Aviation English will be always topical issue for aviation community. Its learning is not easy and takes a lot of time, energy, willpower and stamina. Buying textbooks is often not enough. But it is impossible to learn it for a couple of weeks.
A lot of aviation specialists are going through tough time nowadays.Pandemic, war, unemployment, frustration.Times change.
You may quit now but in the long run you will regret.

P.S. Now I examine pilots and ATCs (LPTAP) online.
E.g.
The persistent rain made the rescuers' work more difficult.
The flights were delayed due to persistent rain at the airport because it impaired visibility significantly.
The destroyed Antonov An-225 was dismantled and removed from Hostomel Airport in Kyiv, Ukraine some days ago.
The Antonov AN-225 Mriya was the largest cargo aircraft in the world and was the only aircraft that featured six turbofan engines. The aircraft was a modern engineering marvel, able to transport up to 250 tonnes of cargo, including single pieces weighing up to 200 tonnes, over short and medium-haul routes.
This giant aircraft was severely damaged in late February when the invasion began.
It now looks like the only option of seeing the Antonov An-225 take to the skies again would be to complete the construction of the second aircraft. Construction began but was halted when funds dried up at the fall of the Soviet Union. At the time, the aircraft was believed to be about 70% completed. But we still hope to see the Antonov An-225 take to the skies.

E.g.
I have been working as an ATC for 5 years and I have 3 endorsements nowadays.
He couldn't substitute his colleague because he didn't have endorsement for this sector.
Recently a colleague of mine addressed me with a question "I have come across the phrase in RT - Request ride report. What does it mean?"
Frankly speaking I have never heard such one in RT.
We cross-referenced a lot of materials and found out that "ride report" is the same as PIREP. "Ride report" is mainly used in the USA.
PIREP is a pilot's report of the actual weather conditions as encountered by an aircraft in flight.
-Tornados, funnel clouds or waterspouts
-Severe or extreme turbulence (including CAT)
-Severe icing
-Hail
-Low-Level Windshear which is defined as fluctuations of more than 10 kts of airspeed
-Volcanic ash clouds
-Any other weather which the weather specialist may deem hazardous or potentially hazardous to flying.
Pilots encountering any of these phenomena can contribute to the safety of flight for other aircraft by reporting the time, location and intensity of the encountered threat.
Aviation safety culture is described as reflecting the real commitment (обязательство, приверженность, политика, ответственное отношение) to safety, or how people act "when no one is watching".
Its 5 key elements are listed in the quizzes above.
We define downtime as a time when employees are involuntarily idle in their work tasks, due to equipment or technological malfunction, project bottlenecks, or a lower volume of work.
E.g.
Unfortunately a lot of ATCs suffer downtime nowadays.
Commercial pilots blame pandemic downtime for in-flight mistakes
China's Tibet Airlines Airbus A319 plane caught fire after an aborted takeoff in the southwestern city of Chongqing on the 12th of May, 2022.
There were no fatalities but some passengers sustained minor injuries. They suffered bruises and sprains during the evacuation and were sent to local hospitals for examination.
The pilots had interrupted the takeoff in line with procedures after experiencing an abnormality, leading to an engine scrape and fire after the plane veered off the runway.
A passenger said there was a sudden vibration and oxygen masks lowered before the plane made an unusual sound and VEERED OFF the runway.
Crew members noticed that fuel oil was leaking and started evacuating passengers down slides. Fire soon broke out, forcing some passenger to jump from the aircraft.
Unverified photos on social media show both engines separated from the airframe as well as a major crack in the rear fuselage and damage to the right wing. https://www.hindustantimes.com/
"Augmented flight crew is a crew that comprises more than the minimum number required to operate the aeroplane and in which each flight crew member can leave their assigned post and be replaced by another appropriately qualified flight crew member for the purpose of in-flight rest." - International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO) Annex 6.
Usage of phrasal verbs is pretty common.
Here it is one of them.- to PASS OUT (to lose consciousness)
Don't confuse it with "PASS AWAY"( to die)
e.g.
People passed out due to the sweltering heat.
Passengers have some seconds to put on oxygen masks not to pass out in a depressurized plane.
The plane crash-landed and all passengers and the crew passed away.
Let's consider a piece of news from SELCAL(ICAO exam,Russia). It contains interesting vocabulary.
A flameout approach and landing was performed today at Heathrow airport. When the flight was abeam Clacton, both engines stalled and the crew was able to REVIVE only left-hand engine. The right-side engine remained dead. The pilots would not further compromise safety and it was decided to land at Heathrow airport. The plane is currently under repair.
A circuit breaker is a device which can stop the flow of electricity around a circuit by switching itself off if anything goes wrong.
