Albert and Giselle’s encounter at the beginning of the first act. Strong plot twist right from the start. One of the most difficult moments for a dancer. You go on stage, your heart is pounding, your lips are treacherously dry, your hands are shaking, your legs are not fully obeying yet, and here you need maximum act the most natural, really immerse yourself in the role. Being little and watching Giselle, I used to not get how was it possible - they just met and immediately there was such a strong feeling that betrayal immediately drove Giselle crazy. Years later when I began digging deeper, I realized for me there was no other option of the story but the one where this was not their first meeting. They’ve known and loved each other for a while, or so it seems to Giselle, she believes in this. And during the first act, she still does not realize this, but a feeling of doubt appears inside her and, supported by circumstantial evidence, is growing, but she refuses to accept it. What happens next, I think, many of you know, and if not, then we will definitely talk about it in detail later.

Встреча Альберта и Жизели в самом начале первого акта. Сильная завязка сюжета. Один из самых сложных для исполнительницы моментов. Выходишь на сцену, сердце колотится, губы предательски пересыхают, руки трясутся, ноги еще не вполне слушаются и тут - нужна максимальная естественность, переживание. Когда маленькая смотрела «Жизель», не понимала, как так - только встретились и сразу такая сильная любовь, что предательство доводит до сумасшествия. Когда начала копаться в балете и разбираться в себе, поняла, что для меня это не первая встреча. Они знакомы и любят друг друга уже некоторое время, ну или так кажется Жизели, в это она верит. И вот на протяжение первого акта она еще не осознает этого, но в ней появляется сомнение, оно подкрепляется косвенными уликами, но она отказывается их принимать. Что происходит дальше, думаю, многим из вас известно, а если нет - то мы обязательно поговорим об этом отдельно.

Ballet is a drama created with music and embodied in choreography. In the middle of the 19th century, ballet chose a new direction - Romanticism. And the whole world fell ill with ballet. 1841. “Giselle” - the pinnacle of ballet romanticism. Music by Adam, libretto by Saint-Georges, Gauthier, Coralli, choreography by Coralli, Perrault. We can talk about the struggle of two worlds in this ballet forever. We will definitely return to this later. But today I want to ask you just one question: What happened in the first act between the first appearance of Giselle and the scene of her complete despair? What made her turn from a piece of total joy into a person who, unable to endure her inner pain, loses her mind?

Бесконечно можно говорить о борьбе двух миров - реального и фантастического в этом балете. Мы к этому обязательно вернёмся. Но сегодня я хочу задать вам лишь один вопрос: Что произошло в первом акте в промежутке между первым появлением Жизели и сценой ее полного отчаяния? Что заставило ее превратиться из комочка радости в человека, который, не в силах вытерпеть душевную боль, лишается рассудка?

Интересно, в последние дни подолгу нахожусь в двух местах - в Мариинском театре с утра, в Вагановской Академии днём. С утра работает тело, днём - мозг. В какой-то момент почувствовала себя счастливым и везучим человеком! Хочу сохранить это ощущение ❤️ So interesting, for the last few days finding myself spending quite a lot of time at the two places - mornings at the Mariinsky theatre, afternoons at the Vaganova Academy.
