1) Frosh – студент-первокурсник.

You can’t tell that he is a frosh, he looks much older.

2) Throat – студент-отличник, одержимый желанием обойти товарищей и быть лучшим (от слова “cut-throat” – ожесточенный, безжалостный).

As I expected, all the throats got excellent marks.

3) Wonk – ботаник.

This wonk is always studying all night long while others are hanging out at some party.

4) Oil it – более краткий аналог идиомы “burn the midnight oil” – учиться ночами.

I have an exam tomorrow, and I really have to oil it tonight.

5) Grunt – работоспособный студент.

He has gained the reputation of being a grunt, so he could chill till his graduation.
