Завершено расследование по делу о войне 2008 г. Международного уголовного суда в Гааге МУС признал основными ответственными за незаконные аресты, заключения, пытки и захваты заложников трех человек: экс-главу МВД Южной Осетии Михаила Миндзаева, начальника следственного изолятора МВД РЮО Гамлета Гучмазова и бывшего уполномоченного по правам человека Давида Санакоева (ныне депутат, бывший кандидат в президенты). Гаагский суд выдал ордера на их арест. Сообщается также, что суд «не будет проводить новые расследования предполагаемой уголовной ответственности других лиц или других действий в связи с ситуацией в Грузии». Теперь его усилия будут направлены на «обеспечение успешного судебного преследования лиц, в отношении которых был выдан ордер на арест». Решение о завершении этапа расследования принято впервые за 20-летнюю историю суда в Гааге.
The Prosecutor of the International Criminal Court, Karim A.A. Khan KC, announces conclusion of the investigation phase in the Situation in Georgia

On 27 January 2016, my Office  opened an investigation in the Situation in Georgia in relation to crimes against humanity and war crimes within the jurisdiction of the International Criminal Court (ICC) in the context of an international armed conflict between 1 July and 10 October 2008.  This followed the completion of the preliminary examination in relation to this situation which had commenced on 14 August 2008. Since the opening of the investigation, my Office examined evidence related to alleged crimes committed by all parties to the armed conflict. It carried out its work in an independent, impartial and objective manner, in partnership with survivors, civil society, and relevant national authorities. These investigations resulted in warrants of arrest being issued, on 30 June 2022, by Pre-Trial Chamber I, against three suspects: Mr Mikhail Mayramovich Mindzaev, Mr Gamlet Guchmazov and Mr David Georgiyevich Sanakoev.
