Goodwill Ransomware Demands to Donate to the Poor
Goodwill ransomware group propagates very unusual demands in exchange for the decryption key. The group is forcing its Victims to donate to the poor and provides financial assistance to the patients in need.
Once infected, the ransomware worm encrypts documents, photos, videos, databases, and renders them inaccessible without the decryption key. The actors suggest that victims perform 3 socially driven activities in exchange for the decryption key:
1️⃣ Donate new clothes to the homeless, record the action, and post it on social media.
2️⃣ Take 5 less fortunate children to Dominos, Pizza Hut or KFC for a treat, take pictures and videos, and post them on social media.
3️⃣ Provide financial assistance to anyone who needs urgent medical attention but cannot afford it, at a nearby hospital, record audio, and share it with the operators.
What do you think of this ransomware?

Virtual private network (VPN) company ExpressVPN has removed its VPN servers in India to not comply with the government’s directions on keeping user data for at least five years and sharing it with authorities when requested.
The move is the first by a VPN service provider to respond to the order that India’s Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT-In) passed in late April and is coming into force from June 27.

Google is big!
Building and running such a system requires not only know-how but enormous amounts of computing power. Piper spans about 85 terabytes of data (aka 85,000 gigabytes), and Google's 25,000 engineers make about 45,000 commits (changes) to the repository each day.
That's some serious activity. While the Linux open source operating spans 15 million lines of code across 40,000 software files, Google engineers modify 15 million lines of code across 250,000 files each week.
