How to target startups owners and sell your digital marketing service If you want to sell marketing services, you have to show your expertise to the right people. About showing expertise, I’ll tell you in the next post. Now let's figure out how to find startup owners. The problem is that startup owners only listen to investors and other startup owners. They don't listen to common marketers. These guys are real bustards. I know that because I'm one of them. 🙂 It means if you create content in your IG profile about 'how to run Facebook ads' or 'how to create a website' these guys will never find you. That’s why you should ‘go to them’ yourself. In that case, Facebook ads will help. You need to make a very specific audience target. If you run ads using the interest 'startup' you’ll waste your marketing budget, because all entrepreneurs think they have a startup. 🙂 So, what interests should you use? The first interest that exists on target options is ‘Y Combinator’. It’s the most famous startup accelerator in the world. People who are interested in 'Y combinator' (YC) are 100% performing in the startup niche. The second interest is ‘Paul Graham’. He is a founder of YC and the most influential person in the tech startup world. Good thing that common entrepreneurs don't engage with Paul's content and you won’t spend your budget on them. But all startup founders have read Paul Graham's essay. The third target options are ‘Dave McClure’ and ‘500 startups’. Dave is a founder of the ‘500 Startups’ accelerator. (YC's main competitor) These few target options allow you to cover 1m people and 80% of startup founders all over the world. But how to show them your expertise?
