Actress of the year, Marija Luīze Melķe, refused the 'Lielais Kristaps' award until the Dzīvesbiedru likums / Law on Spouses is adopted. Yesterday happened 'Lielais Kristaps' National Film Award ceremony. The title of the best actress was awarded to Marija Luīze Meļķe for her leading role in the film 'Neona pavasaris'. That was her first film experience. The actress stated in her speech that she plays a character in the movie, which the Latvian state currently refuses to support. Therefore, she will not accept her award until the Dzīvesbiedru likums / Spouses Law is passed. After her speech, the audience gave her a standing ovation, and I cried. Girl, I am so proud of you!
