Сегодня рассказываем о великом русском путешественнике!
Семён Дежнёв (1605-1673) первым обогнул по морю самую восточную часть нашего Отечества и всей Евразии. Прошёл пролив между Азией и Америкой, открыл путь из Северного Ледовитого океана в Тихий 🌏

Кстати, Дежнёв открыл этот пролив на 80 лет раньше Беринга, побывавшего лишь в южной его части☝🏻

А его именем назван мыс, тот самый, рядом с которым проходит линия перемены дат.

После открытия пролива международная комиссия географов решила, что это место самое удобное для проведения такой линии на карте. И теперь новый день на Земле начинается на мысе Дежнёва. Заметьте, на 3 часа раньше, чем в Японии и на 12 раньше, чем в предместье Лондона – Гринвич, откуда начинается отсчёт всемирного времени.

А может быть… пора совместить нулевой меридиан с линией перемены дат? Тем более, что предложения такие от учёных поступают давно🤔

Today’s on spot some facts about a great Russian traveller😀

Semyon Dezhnyov (1605-1673) was the first to skirt the Eastern part of Russia and the whole Eurasia by sea. He passed through a channel between Asia and America and opened the route from the Arctic Ocean to the Pacific Ocean🌏

By the way, it had been 80 years earlier than the same was done by Bering (just the southern part though).

And the very headland not far from the date line was named after Dezhnyov.
After the channel had been found the international Geographic Society claimed this point to be the most appropriate for the date line. And a new day on the Earth begins on the Dezhnyov Headland. Check it out! Each day starts 3 hours earlier than it does in Japan and 12 hours earlier than in Greenwich near London (the point of the world time count)

Perhaps…it’s high time to combine the zero meridian and the date line. Frankly speaking, some scientists have already made such a supposition🤔
