Simple surgical manipulation saving lives Tracheostomy is an operation to form an additional opening in the anterior wall of the trachea. The procedure is necessary in cases of airway obstruction (often caused by swelling of the airway or by a foreign body). However, the animation shows mistakes in this procedure🙌🏻 First, the skin was dissected, then the subcutaneous fatty tissue, the muscle was dissected (although usually the fibers are just disconnected), and then the isthmus of the thyroid was crossed! It is almost not done during this manipulation - the isthmus is just pushed downwards. They only cross it if there is a neoplasm in the area that does not allow you to move that part of the thyroid gland. The animation does not show this neoplasm.
