Bone fluorosis. A 47-year-old woman told doctors that she had been drinking a jug of tea daily for the past 17 years, which contained 100 to 150 tea bags. The patient stated she had been experiencing pain in her lower back, arms, legs and hips for the past five years, and all of her teeth had been extracted for fragility. An x-ray of the forearm revealed calcification in the cortical plate, and the spine showed increased density in the upper and lower vertebral bodies-a so-called rugby-style striped pattern, suggesting skeletal fluorosis.
