For example, stem cells in the skin allow us to regularly renew our "cover" or blood stem cells (hematopoietic) from which all types of all mature blood cells (red blood cells, platelets and leukocytes) are formed. By this "dividing" potential, the function attracts scientists for research, particularly in cellular regenerative medicine.
