Is the shape of our ears affecting the way we hear? Surprisingly, it does. The shape of our ears is as unique as our fingerprints. Scientists have hypothesized that since ear shells are distinct, each person's brain must memorize the shape of the ears in order to accurately process auditory information. An experiment was conducted involving people wearing plastic ear pads that changed the shape of their ears. This actually had an effect on hearing. After the pads were removed, it took a few more weeks before the subjects were able to hear normally again
