How does the ventilator operate? A ventilator consists of several basic parts such as a compressor, electronic circuitry, sensors, and a valve system. The device facilitates the supply of a gas mixture with the necessary and acceptable concentration of oxygen into the patient's lungs under pressure. In the process of its functioning, air cycling should be observed; the switching of inspiration and expiration should be performed in compliance with the air flow, volume and pressure under certain time parameters. During the inspiration phase, controlled ventilation is performed; otherwise, the device supports the patient's instinctive breathing. The ventilator can be connected in two ways: invasive and noninvasive. In the non-invasive method of connection, the air is supplied through a tube and discharged through a mask, while in the invasive method of connection, the air mixture is supplied through an intubation tube inserted into the tracheostomy or airway.
