Examining DNA and chromosomes DNA molecules, if specifically isolated from blood cells or other tissue, are visible to the naked eye as a white thread, at times tangled and twisted, or as a white translucent substance similar to a jellyfish. Yet one needs special instruments to distinguish its structure. And chromosomes can be discerned with an ordinary microscope.
