Rhinoplasty for a Dog
When two residents of Utrecht bought the French bulldog, Abby, they were fascinated by her appearance. But two years later, Abby began to have breathing problems, and she could not stand a long walk.
Sometimes this type of dog has health problems. One of them is an excessively short muzzle, like Abby's.
This dog needed surgery at the AniCura Veterinary Hospital. Surgeon Geert ter Gaar widened her nostrils and performed other procedures. The treatment was successful, and Abby seemed to be breathing better. But her condition will still need to be controlled.
To avoid such situations, Ter Gaar suggests that animal owners consult a veterinarian before buying.
"By breeding, you can get a dog that people like - it will have a short muzzle," he explains. - But in the skull, it will become very crowded. All the things that should fit there will be compressed. "
