I told them that the way to get really rich was to get good at programming now and start the startup in a few years, when knowing how to program had started to make good ideas visible. I also told them the most important thing to do when they are ready to start: turn off the filter that requires the idea to be a "business idea." If there's anything your friends truly want and that you can build, just build that. It's so stupid to try to teach teenagers "entrepreneurship" by having them pitch made-up startup ideas. You make them focus on the one thing they shouldn't be focusing on, and then you rate them by their appeal to investors, instead of users. If you want teenagers to become successful founders, have a contest to write the best computer game instead of a contest to invent the most plausible-sounding fake startup idea.
