1.2 million medical tourists a year is a goal set by the Russian National Health project. The export of medical services for Russia is a new and important project in the healthcare sector. On January, 1 (2019) the five-year National Healthcare Project was launched. The development of the export of medical services is one of the priorities of the project. The Decree of the President of the Russian Federation of May 7, 2018 No. 204 set the annual figures for exports of medical services: $1 billion and 1.2 million foreign patients. The target should be achieved by 2024. The plan includes support for the export of medical services at several levels: federal, regional (health and tourism departments), and the local level (medical organizations).
