For a moment there, l thought you'd lost your marbles. Let's talk about marble today. By the way, today's video is not from HP. Guess which film it is from? The word marble has several meanings: 1 uncountable a type of hard stone that is usually white and often has coloured lines in it. It can be polished and is used in building and for making statues, etc. (мрамор) 2 countable a small ball of coloured glass that children roll along the ground in a game. 3 uncountable a game played with marbles. 'Three boys were playing marbles.' 4 plural Informal A way of referring to somebody's intelligence or mental ability. 'He's losing his marbles' (= he's not behaving in a sensible way). The idiom 'lose one's marbles' appeared in the USA and had 2 meanings at first: gone mad(angry) or lost his reason/ done something really stupid. P.S. Want more American English?
