Tor Project, a non-profit organization that develops technologies for open source privacy and anonymity, has included Monero in the list of cryptocurrencies available for donations to the project.
❗️The main responsibility of the project is to preserve the anonymity of the Tor network. Considering Monero (XMR), Tor Project currently accepts nine cryptocurrencies, including Bitcoin (BTC), Litecoin (LTC), Stellar Lumens (XLM), Dash, Ethereum (ETH), Augur (REP), ZCash (ZEC) and Bitcoin Cash (BCH).
The project has created its own direct wallets for all of the above cryptocurrencies. This allows users to donate cryptocurrency directly to the Tor Project instead of relying on services provided by third parties, such as BitPay, Bitcoin payment service provider.
☝️Moreover, the fundraising director of the Tor Project, Sarah STEVENSON, said that the foundation would withdraw from BitPay if people stop using it. The director considers the Lightning Network as one of the alternatives.
