Bitfinex выпустила токены LEO весной прошлого года, чтобы привлечь дополнительное финансирование через первичное биржевое предложение (IEO). In the first quarter of 2020, Bitfinex earned $ 21.4 million, which is twice as much as in the fourth quarter of 2019. The Block columnist Larry Chermak came to such conclusions, who analyzed the volumes of UNUS SED LEO (LEO) tokens burned by the cryptocurrency exchange.
Bitfinex issued LEO tokens last spring to attract additional financing through an initial public offering (IEO). The exchange set itself the goal of raising $ 1 billion and, according to its own statements, it managed to do so. Both large investors who invested more than $ 100 million and retail, each of which invested more than $ 1 million in LEO, participated in IEO LEO tokens.
In the summer of that year, the exchange announced that it was launching a LEO token redemption mechanism in order to completely withdraw them from circulation. For these purposes, Bitfinex pledged to spend at least 27% of the total revenue of its parent company iFinex. 📁Since the process of withdrawing tokens from circulation can be monitored in real time, Chermak used this data to calculate the exchange's income.
According to The Block, Bitfinex remains one of the most liquid cryptocurrency exchanges in the world, but by April its share in the global trading volume dropped to 5% - in January 2019, the share of Bitfinex was 13.7%. It is possible that with the launch of the cryptocurrency stacking service, the exchange will be able to regain its position.
