The expected update Ethereum is preparing for the first trial run, the name of the test network for many will be unfamiliar, reports Coindesk.
The Görli blockchain launched today will be the testing ground for Prysm software created by Prysmatic Labs. It will be the first of three phases of an update deployment, often referred to as Ethereum 2.0 or Serenity, thus making a step towards solving scaling.
✅ On its official website, Görli is described as “the first cross-client testnet based on credentials that synchronizes Parity Ethereum, Geth, Nethermind, Pantheon and EthereumJS”. The site added that testnet "is a community-based project, which is a completely open resource," which has been running since September.
🔺 “The concept of the Görli test network is to allow developers to build applications for testing in a reliable network with high availability without restricting them in tools,” said developer Afri Schoedon.
Co-founder and technical manager of Prysmatic Labs, Preston Van Loon, noted that there is another reason for running Prysm on the Görli test network.
🔺 “Using Görli is advisable from the point of view that they have not yet started, so we could get a really large number of tokens in their genesis file. I asked them for $ 10 million, which is exactly what you need to run Ethereum 2.0, ”said Van Loon. “We will start with a zero block with this amount and push off from that.”
