Неясно, подавала ли биржа заявку на SPDI в Вайоминге — Kraken не ответила на запрос Coindesk о комментарии на момент публикации.

The American cryptocurrency exchange Kraken is preparing to open a “bank” with limited functions in Wyoming, which will allow the exchange to store fiat client deposits and, possibly, work in New York without BitLicense, Coindesk writes.
🔸 The exchange has opened the vacancy of the operational director of the specialized depository institution (SPDI) in Wyoming. The position includes team building, development of SPDI systems and their integration with the exchange.
It is unclear whether the exchange applied for an SPDI in Wyoming - Kraken did not respond to Coindesk's request for comment at the time of publication.
🔽 Created in accordance with the new laws of Wyoming, SPDI could theoretically put an end to BitLicense, which is known for its extremely stringent requirements. Kraken CEO Jesse Powell said a few years ago that the exchange would not serve customers in New York due to BitLicense requirements, which he considered overly burdensome.
SPDI would allow Kraken to rely less on a handful of banks that work with crypto exchanges to store and transfer fiat.
☝️ Previously, Kraken announced its readiness to admit to its ranks Bitcoin supporters working for Nordea Bank, whose management forbade its employees to engage in crypto trading.
